October changes which bring saving opportunities

Reserved Instances for Azure OpenAI Microsoft has introduced hourly pricing and provisioned reservations for Azure OpenAI. Customers are now able to test the service on an hourly basis, and there is an opportunity to save costs by using upfront commitments through the Reserved Instances option. RIs are available in 1-month and 1-year commitments.

Azure NetApp Savings Opportunity Customers can now create an Azure NetApp Files volume as small as 50 GiB, compared to the initial minimum size of 100 GiB. Next to that Microsoft Announced “Cool Access” for Azure NetApp Files. With this new feature customers are able to store data more cost-effectively.

Changes in the Product Terms

Privacy & Security Terms:

  • Updated Microsoft Purview in the Core Online Services table.
  • Microsoft created a whole new section “Exceptions to the DPA” to get more clarity. Microsoft moved these Privacy & Security Terms from the individual Product Offerings pages for Online Services, to the Privacy & Security Terms section of the Product Terms site.

SQL Server: Added Self-Hosting and Disaster Recovery clause for Customers with subscription licenses for Windows Server. This to clarify that subscriptions are giving the same rights as the SA-rights for Self-Hosting and Disaster Recovery.

Self-Hosting and Disaster Recovery Customers with subscription licenses are additionally granted rights equivalent to the rights provided to SA customers under Self-Hosting and Disaster Recovery. Use of the software is subject to the same terms and conditions.

Office Desktop Applications (Windows): Updated Availability Table and corresponding references for Office LTSC 2024, and Office LTSC 2024 Applications. Unfortunate we can’t elaborate on the actual change, since we get a page not found: We are sorry, an error occurred while processing your request.

Office for Mac: Updated Availability Table and corresponding references for Office LTSC for Mac 2024, and Office LTSC for Mac 2024 Applications.

Windows Desktop Operating System: Added Windows Enterprise LTSC 2024 to Availability Tables.

Windows Server Standard, Datacenter, and Essentials: Added Self-Hosting and Disaster Recovery clause for Customers with subscription licenses for Windows Server. Same reason as discussed on the SQL section.

Project: Updated Availability Tables to reflect the updated Planner and Project Plan 3/5 naming. Microsoft now calls Project, Planner and Project.

Microsoft 365: Added Microsoft 365 A5 Security offerings for Students to Availability and Prerequisite Tables.

GitHub Offerings: Added GitHub Copilot Enterprise to Availability Tables. Also added a clause for GitHub Core Online Services, as well as Security Practices and Policies for GitHub Core Online Services.

Glossary: Updated “Covered Product” and “External Users” definitions. Added definition of GitHub Core Online Services.
