Welcome to our May edition of the Microsoft Licensing Update! As always, we’re here to keep you informed about the latest changes and developments in the world of Microsoft licensing.
We are walking towards summer, and it seems Microsoft has his full focus on Fiscal Year End Close. There aren’t any massive changes this month. This gives us the opportunity to do a deep dive on the Privacy and Security Terms. Did you know that are still services that are only hosted in the US? Which means that your data is stored on their as well.
Privacy & Security Terms:
- Added Azure Communication Services to the Core Online Services table.
- Added Viva Pulse to the EU Data Boundary Services table. What does this mean:
EU Data Boundary Services
The term “EU Data Boundary” means the Microsoft computers, computing environment, and physical data centers located solely in the European Union (EU) and the European Free Trade Association (EFTA). The term “EU Data Boundary Services” applies only to the Online Services that are mentioned in the Data Boundary Services table.
Were Microsoft now added Viva Pulse, which also means that your data was stored in the US before this change! Do you want to know which services are bounded in your region and which services are only hosted from US Datacenters?
Microsoft Copilot Availability
Copilot is now available for every user in your organization! Microsoft expanded the license prerequisites and now Microsoft 365 Business Basic and Microsoft 365 F1 and F3 are added to the list.
Microsoft 365
- Added Microsoft Governance availability for Frontline Workers
- Added Microsoft Viva Pulse
Microsoft Viva Pulse empowers leaders and managers to understand their team’s experience and needs in the moment. Viva Pulse enables team leads to send brief surveys using research-backed templates to get a snapshot of team sentiment and act on feedback.
Microsoft Azure
- Added terms for Azure AI Studio
- Added clause for Azure Databricks.
Azure AI Studio
Integrated Services: Azure AI Studio is a service that brings together capabilities from multiple Azure AI services. The product terms for services accessed through Azure AI Studio apply including, but not limited to, terms for Azure Machine Learning and Azure AI Services.
Model Catalog/Registry: Any third-party models that Microsoft makes available in the Model Catalog and/or Model Registry are Non-Microsoft Products and subject to the terms for Non-Microsoft Products. Microsoft may make models available in the Model Catalog as First-Party Consumption Services subject to the Azure availability clause.
Azure Databricks
Any third-party models that Microsoft makes available in Azure Databricks are deemed Non-Microsoft Products.
Microsoft PowerPlatform
In our recent blog and video, we talked about the new license options for Power Automate. Microsoft has now also updated his Product Terms and;
- Removed Power Automate Hosted RPA Process add-on from Availability and Prerequisite Tables.
- Changed Power Automate to Power Automate Premium
- Added Power Automate Process and Power Automate Hosted Process to Availability Tables.
- Updated Microsoft Power BI to remove data use and access for abuse monitoring.
REMOVED: Data Use and Access for Abuse Monitoring
As part of providing Power BI capabilities powered by the Azure OpenAI service, Microsoft will process and store Inputs and Output Content, solely for debugging and to monitor for and prevent abusive or harmful uses or outputs of the service. Authorized Microsoft employees may review such data that has triggered our automated systems to investigate and verify potential abuse.
GitHub
- Removed GitHub AE GHEM (User SL) and GitHub Insights (User SL) from EAEAS Availability table.
Azure Hardware Terms
- Added use rights for Azure Operator Nexus to Azure Hardware section.
Azure Operator Nexus Hardware Terms
These Hardware Terms apply to Azure Operator Nexus.
Azure Operator Nexus is only available for use by Telecommunication Service Providers.
If there is a conflict between these terms and Customer’s Azure subscription agreement, these terms will govern and control only for purposes of the use of Azure Operator Nexus, including use of the Near Edge Software as part of the Service.
