Welcome to our February edition of the Microsoft Licensing Update! As always, we’re here to keep you informed about the latest changes and developments in the world of Microsoft licensing. This month brings a variety of updates, ranging from adjustments to existing offerings to the introduction of new services. Let’s dive in and explore the most noteworthy changes.
Microsoft FromSA removed from the Product Terms
A significant change in Microsoft licensing this month affects FromSA subscriptions. As of now, new customers migrating from on-premise to cloud subscriptions will no longer have access to FromSA. Existing customers can still renew their current quantity but should be aware that when scaling down, you lose the right for that quantity of licenses for FromSA. Additionally, FromSA had the right for a local installation of Office Pro Plus. Microsoft now included that in the full SKU with the requirement that a specific user was licenses previously with Office Pro Plus, Core/Enterprise CAL and Windows Enterprise with SA.
For Dynamics users, Microsoft is set to introduce a promotional offer on or before April 1st, providing an opportunity for potential savings. Let’s hope this isn’t a 1 April joke and this would be a good offering!
Privacy and Security Terms
Azure Container Instances have been added to the exclusion list of online services which are not part of the Data Processing Addendum (DPA).
Microsoft Co-Pilot
Following its General Availability announcement, Microsoft Co-Pilot has undergone several additions and changes. These include the introduction in PT of Microsoft Co-Pilot for Services and updates to the offerings and prerequisites for various Co-Pilot options.
- Microsoft Copilot for Microsoft365 available for Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Business Premium, E3, A3, E5, A5 and Office 365 E3, A3, E5 and A5.
- Microsoft Copilot for Sales is not available for the education SKUs; Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Business Premium, E3, E5, and Office 365 E3, E5.
- Microsoft Copilot for Services is also not available for the education SKUs; Microsoft 365 Business Standard/Business Premium, E3, E5, and Office 365 E3, E5.
Notably, Dynamics 365 environments and Premium Power Automate connections created by Microsoft Co-Pilot for Sales are limited for use with a Microsoft Co-Pilot for Sales license only.
Microsoft Dynamics
In the Dynamics space, Microsoft has made clarifications aimed at ensuring compliance with Denmark’s Bookkeeping Laws and Regulations for Dynamics 365 Business Central and Dynamics 365 Finance.
Microsoft Intune:
Intune Advanced Analytics and Intune Enterprise Application Management has now been added for availability in the Product Terms.
GitHub
Updates to the availability tables for GitHub’s EAS (Enterprise Agreement Subscription) and MCA (Microsoft Customer Agreement) licenses have been made to reflect changes in license availability, ensuring transparency for users.
